Arginine

Arginine is a source of high-energy nitrogen phosphate compounds in organisms. Arginine is involved in numerous functions in the body.

Of l-arginine nitrogen monoxide (NO) is formed, which is needed for the vascular dilatation and thus for the regulation of the blood supply. Over the formation of NO besides l-arginine can support the regulation of the sugar and blood fat level. Investigations showed that l-arginine can contribute also to the improvement of the pumping performance of the heart. In the hormone metabolism l-arginine plays an important role likewise: For the release of growth hormones and also insulin l-arginine is necessary. Beyond that the amino acid contributes to a healthy functioning immune system.

Ascorbid acid

Ascorbic acid is an organic acid. Since it is easily oxidizing, it works ant oxidative. (Antioxidants are used in food and in plastics, in order to prevent the oxidation of sensitive molecules, thus the reaction with the atmospheric oxygen or other oxidizing chemicals). It is very water soluble and crystallized in the form of a colourless powder. Their most important characteristic is the physiological effect as vitamin.

Caffeine

Caffeine (also caffeine or outdated Thein and tein, wrongly Teein) is a purine alkaloid and a working component of luxury articles such as coffee, tea, Cola, Mate, Guarana, Energy drinks and cacao. It is one the oldest, most effective and most compatible stimulant.

Caffeine is a white odourless powder.

Caffeine has many different, but is in small quantities primarily a stimulant. That means it is a substance with a stimulating effect on the psyche, which increases energy as well as concentration and eliminates signs of tiredness.

Taken in small quantities the effect of the caffeine is exclusively stimulating, all basic psychological functions such as energy and mood are affected. In higher doses it also stimulates the breathing and circulation.

Guarana

Guaraná has been known to the Indians in the Amazon for centuries. The peeled and dried seeds are grinded to a light brown powder, bloated in water and drunk sweetened with honey. The beverage works in a similar energizing way as coffee and lessens feelings of hunger.

Today a beverage not unlike lemonade native to Brazil is made of Guaraná extracts by several Brazilian beverage manufacturers (among other things Antarctica, Brahma, Kicos, Kuat) and is called synonymously Guaraná. Likewise chocolate, chewing gum and energy drinks contain the Guaraná extract. In organic Cola the material is also sometimes contained.

Guaraná contains more caffeine than coffee and tea. The proportion of tanning agent amounts to approximately 25 per cent, which retards and extends the effect of the caffeine. In addition, Theo bromine and theophylline are contained. This substance is added to so-called energy drinks but is also available separately as a commercial dietary supplement.

The products are termed as "energy” and “alertness drinks". Besides the Guaraná product is considered to aid performance ability in fitness and bodybuilder circles.

Maca

The Maca plant, Lepidium peruvianum Chacón is still named today after its earlier designation Lepidium meyenii Walp. The Maca plant belongs to the family of the Brassicaceae and is native to the high Andes of Peru.

There it is cultivated for approximately 2000 years. The plant grows about 20 cm high, has a main root as well as secondary tuber roots. The visible part of the plant is consumed as a vegetable, the tubers can either be freshly consumed or made durable by drying and can be ingested as a grinded powder.

In nature Maca is exposed to extreme climatic conditions (strong variations in temperature, continuous strong winds and intensive UV radiation by the altitude). Altogether Maca is a durable plant with high strength.

  • The Maca root contains proteins, much iron, zinc, magnesium, calcium, carbohydrates, phosphorus, sugar, starch, important mineral materials and most vitamins.
  • In addition positive effects are attributed to the Maca root on the physical efficiency (similar the effect of anabolic steroids) and the psychological maximum stress.
  • Furthermore the Maca root contains hormone-like materials, which promote on the one hand the blood circulation of the pelvic area, on the other hand affect the testosterone and/or oestrogen formation. Therefore dietary supplements, which contain Maca powder, are marketed as “Viagra of nature” in Europe and the USA.

Studies from South America and the United States however showed that test persons reported an increase of sexual desire and efficiency, a strengthened immune system and more energy. Furthermore, it counteracts depression and chronic tiredness.

The Peruvian scientist Gustavo Gonzales administered to twelve men between the age of 20 and 40 Maca for a three months long period and examined thereafter their fertility. Already after two weeks an average doubling of the number of sperm cells could be determined. At the same time more male hormones were formed and the test persons emphasised that their sexual desire would have increased clearly.

A Chinese scientist named Qun Yi Zhengs published research results in the magazine "Urology", which proved that test mice were capable (depending on the quantity of Maca) of 13 to 67 orgasms within three hours. The neurologist Fernando Cabieses, who likewise examined the potency-promoting effect of Maca, stated that the plant increases not only the ability to have erections, but on a long-term basis also the general sex- drive.

Muira Puama

The merits of Muira puama, a Brazilian bush, which is also known under the name “potency wood“ are indisputable.

Clear vitalisation and reinforcement of the sexual instinct!

Latest studies fully confirmed the traditional areas of application.

Dr. Jacques Waynberg from the Institute for sexual research in Paris, treated 262 male persons with decreased sexual instinct and erection disorder with 1 to 2.5 g Muira excerpt per day. Already after 2 weeks 51% of the test persons with an erection disorder reported a clear improvement. 62% those, which complained about poor sexual desire, spoke of a clearly improved effect.

A second study of Waynberg included 100 participants, who suffered from impotence, libido deficit and sexual problems due to general weakness, exhaustion, powerlessness or limpness. After the treatment a clear increase of the frequency of sexual intercourse was to be determined with 66% of the participant. Of 46 participants, who complained about sexual listlessness, 70% said, their Libido had substantially improved. 55% stated, they could now maintain the erection during intercourse constantly.

Other advantages, which were noticeable, were decreased exhaustion, improved sleep and regular erections in the morning.

Muira puama is more effective; to those with less psychosomatic problems. With the 26 participants, who had been diagnosed with "sexual weakness" without recognizable psychosomatic problems, Muira remedied the weakness with all participants (100%), sexual listlessness with 85% and erection disorder with 90% of the cases. A leading Muira puama product is Androxan forte. The combination of the ingredients is both stimulating and invigorating and increases the testosterone levels substantially.

Here the statement of a user:

"After one week I already felt the effect of the tablets and now, one month later, I feel as potent and strong as I was many years ago. I am glad that I tried your product!"

Taurine

Since the 1930's in Asia taurine has been added to various food products, since it is assumed that a health-promoting effect comes from it. During the last few years there has been an increase in health and fitness thus this product has enjoyed increased popularity in the western world.

Taurine is a biologically important chemical compound. The adult human body can produce taurine from the materials cysteine and vitamin B6.

Taurine is known as additive in energy drinks. For example mother's milk per litre contains a concentration between 25 to 50 milligram of taurine. A can (250 ml) of a well-known energy drink contains 1000 milligram (1g) of taurine. An adult with 70 kg weight has approximately 70 gram of taurine in the body. This is particularly found in the muscles, brain, heart and blood.

Taurine deficiency in the human body leads to disorders of the immune system. During animal testing an anti-inflammatory effect of Taurine was discovered. Researchers of the School of Pharmacy of the University of London found some opposite effects caused by taurine on livers damaged by alcohol.

Taurine is used particularly in Japan in the course of a homeopathic and "holistic" treatment of certain diseases of heart and circulation. Its positively inotropic, i.e. contraction-strength-increasing effect on the heart muscle is proven in some studies. Orally administered it lowers the high blood pressure and moderates in combination with "conventional" medicines the medical condition after a cardiac infarction.

Tribulus terrestris

Tribulus terrestris (tribosterone) represents a mixture from different ranges of active substances, as for example alkaloids and nitrate.

The substances are gained from a thorn plant of the Tribulus kind. Furthermore plants of this kind contain compounds, which are similar to steroids, so-called saponine. Saponine belong to the so-called phytosterines, which are used for the treatment of benigner prostatic hyperplasia, as well as for the influence of the oestrogen synthesis.

Praised as "natural anabolic steroids” manufacturers of such supplements promise an increase of the testosterone level connected with a higher degree of muscle growth (strength), decreased water retention in the tissue and a higher degree of perseverance.

Since it is called "natural anabolic steroids", it allegedly posseses no side effects.
While a positive effect on sexual instinct is possible, since saponine as described already above can be used for the treatment of benigner prostatic hyperplasia, as well as for the influence of oestrogen synthesis, no investigations exist, which could support the results.

Vitamine - B6 - B1 - B2

Vitamins are organic compounds, which are required of the organism not as a source of energy but for other vital functions, which mainly cannot be synthesized from the metabolism.

They must therefore be obtained through food intake. Some vitamins are supplied to the body as preliminary stages (Pro-vitamins), which are then only converted in the body into the effective form. One divides vitamins into fat-soluble (lipophilic) and water-soluble (hydrophilic) vitamins.

The fact that vitamins are needed is at least with some vitamins genetically related. Different organisms need therefore individual vitamins. Generally only for humans vital materials are called vitamins.

Vitamin B6 is needed in the body, in order to produce luck hormone such as serotonin and dopamine as well as the hormone melatonin, which adjusts the sleeping pattern.

Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) i.e. coenzyme plays an important role in the carbohydrate and fat metabolism and causes the body to gain energy from the food. Further, it takes on the function of the acetylcholine antagonist in the nervous system. Thiamine is sometimes called the "nerve vitamin" because it is important during the stimulus transmission of the nerves to the muscles.

Vitamin B2, also called riboflavin, is most beneficial for skin, hair, visual acuity and growth. Vitamin B2 is necessary for the dismantling of fat and protein. The daily requirement is 1-2mg, and during pregnancy a little more. The intestinal bacteria form a part of this need. Vitamin B2 is contained (amongst other things) in yeast, grain, leguminous plants, milk, cheese and giblets.
